"Haazaron kwaashen aisi ke har khwaish pe dam nikle, Bahut nikle mere armaan, lekin phir bhi dam nikle"
This line from Ghalib more or less sums up my own perspective on life and from here I start my blogging journey.
When I was in school I desired passing out from the school quickly and getting into the college life. During college I wanted to get over with it quickly and get into a job and start earning money. Once I joined a job I started dreaming about opening my own company. Having done that today I feel like going back to the school again. I want to lead that innocent and tension-free life again when the only hassles in life used to be the Unit-Tests, Half-Yearly and Annual exams. When I didn't know what was recession or the great depression.
I want to run away from the internet and look forward to receive that cute little 25 paise postcard. I feel like swtiching off my mobile and waiting for the good old MTNL phone to ring. I then want to take the receiver off and forget about anyone disturbing me. I would love to throw away my ATM card and wait in the banks with the token number in my hand.
Ofcourse Ghalib Sahab, the problem with Khwaeeshen are that they are ever-changing. How I wish that I didn't know the meaning of Khwaeeshen at all.
To conclude I would like to quote a line from another famous poet and lyricist - Shailendra. "Koi Lauta De mere Beete Hue Din."

The only thing that just cannot happen for any one of us the desire to revert time and encounter the past once again and mend the future, if we so want....guess if that could have happened then humans would not have inherited earth!
ReplyDeleteIncredibly nostalgic introduction…!!
ReplyDelete“Life was much better when we were kids” I hear that a lot. How things were safer, simpler, even sexier back then like doing little stupid things as chewing gum and pressing on chair anticipating someone will use that soon, breaking silence to draw attention, disordering row of chairs in auditoriums to create confusion, wearing an attitude that was not in order and many memorable innocent fun that has now become objects of desire.
Certainly, life was really cool back then. But with few carefree friends we can reclaim a little from our past and rock :)
Anand-ism is the journey one must experience to understand how we in "rush of materialistic life" forgot to appreciate our inner self.
ReplyDeleteThe life's simple questions one craves to ask but donot know where to seek may follow the path of anand-ism for that pious divine connectivity.
The introduction is awesome and captures the imagination of a child that is there in some corner within us but has lost in the priority of life that offers nothing but unhappiness and misery.
Anand-ism is the hope and a journey to find that child and return our smile:)
Ye Daulta bhi lelo, ye shohrat bhi lelo, chahe cheen lo mujh se meri jawani, magar mujhko lauta do vo bachpan ka sawan, vo kagaz ki kashti vo baarish ka paani....
ReplyDeleteToday I received a message which said "Those were the days when we used to say Lets meet and plan. No we say lets plan and meet" SO very sad...
even i want those days back
i had a funny experience a few days back... during one of my shoots, while traveling with the rest of the crew, i could see my production controller incessantly calling up people half an hour before we were supposed to reach the said location. he had a sheet the size of an unfolded newspaper page,,,he kept his fingers on each line and kept hitting up numbers on his phone and then would do a short 15 sec conversation and cut the call. it went on for a while. out of spine pricking curiosity i asked him 'Surender ji, pehle zamaane mei, before you had these cell phones, how would you coordinate and confirm and follow up all the time? 'i thought he would say- people then were more efficient, time friendly and responded with seriousness to a commitment made on a friday to appear at a the said location at 9 am on a monday and things like that, which generally people from an earlier generation always rant about...instead he said... 'jo aaya so aaya, jo nahi so nahi aaya!!!' well...
ReplyDeleteHey Mahesh! What you have written is soo true... as it is said- grass is always greener on the other side. I guess that's the case with all of us. As we are growing older, everything around is evolving, getting better (or bitter ;-)) but yes nothing can replace those tension free school days...we just had to worry bout exams, strict teachers, results, attendance, homework, school bus, PTA ;-), tutions, first crush, those small little tiffs with friends or classmates... see here also I can create a looong list ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut I liked your first post... Keep Blogging!
The problem is we have got used to this kind of lifestyle and dont want to get away from it.
ReplyDeleteSo the expression of "Wanting to go back" becomes just an expression and dont come from the heart.
If you want to get away from the madness and get a semblance of normalcy, a good start will be to work only from office. Before and after office hours swith off your mobile, dont go anywhere near a laptop, spend time with yourself, family and friends.
If you cant do that much stop cribbing about what you want and get on with it.
@Jasmine - I do hope Time Machine is invented finally.
ReplyDelete@Malika - Yes, we can and we will. Lets plan a get-together soon.
@Sashee - Thanks Chief. I am soon focusing attention on some of the existential questions we all face.
@Srikanth - Bhai, thats the perspective I was talking about.
@Kalpana-Thanks
@Rajesh-I guess I should stop cribbing..
@AKS-Bro, you and me would surely go back and sit in our classrooms given a chance.

ReplyDeleteThose are surely the best days of our lives. The golden period that goes off like a fraction of a second. Even I feel the same at times...
ReplyDeletethere is only one problem...
